We humans are going to wipe out the entire alligator specie. This is cuz, according to http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7330051.stm ,we've taken a protein from their blood which is like a super soldier and can kill almost harmful microbe.
So whats going to happen next is that once we've developed the protein into a drug, some idiot is going to pass on finishing his course of medicine and even more powerful bugs are going to evolve and wipe out the alligators, and us along with it.
Oh well, at least it keeps us going for another 100 years or so.
